Gratitude


Gratitude is one of the most important things in life and is something we don’t express often enough. No matter how bad things may seem in our life, we always have something to be grateful for. Just look around you and think about it.

We tend to get so hung up on what is wrong in our lives we don’t stop to look for the good. If you think about it, even the fact that we have challenges can be something to be grateful for! How? Well because it means we are alive (which is better than the alternative) and it makes the good things seem even better.

There are different levels of gratitude. The first level is being grateful for a gift, a job, your car…basically material possessions. There is nothing wrong with that but you really should strive for a higher level of gratitude. By that I mean being truly grateful for your life, the universe, your freedom of choice…those things beyond the material.

This second level can make the world a whole lot nicer place. It would be great if everyone could get in that frame of mind and we would have a lot less strive in the world.

A good practice is to spend a few minutes every day thinking of things you are grateful for. Some days if might not be easy; however, there is always something so keep trying.

Who are you grateful for? Have you told them lately?

What are you grateful for in your life? Have you expressed that gratitude lately? There are lots of ways you can let them know. Just come out and say it, do something to help them, or give them flowers or a small gift.

Take a few minutes right now and write down 10 things you are grateful for…better yet…go tell someone how grateful you are that they are in your life!
